CNC machine building should be easy when you start out and it can be. CNC routers, milling machines, and plasma table are a perfect Do it Yourself Project for everybody. The technology is affordable and there are plenty of free resources around. CNC Routers, Mini Mills and Lathes can be easily built and upgraded as your skills increase. We will discuss the options available to most people at their different skill levels. We will also be trying to build a $75.00 CNC Mini Milling Machine project.

FREE CNC PLASMA CUTTING TABLE PLANS
As promised, here is my set of free CNC plasma cutting table plans. They are not perfectly completed but there is enough information in the layout and detail dimensions to finish this machine. I also included the bill of materials table that includes the purchase items which is good to know. One other thing to note is this design is easier to build since you don't have to drive the machine with dual lead screws or dual rack and pinion. I used one lead screw down the middle. You will need to make sure your cutting air pressure isn't blasting 6 inches down to cut your lead screw. You must also weld in an angle iron guard in the movable table to protect your lead screw.

CNC Plasma Cutting Machine Free Plans - Sneak Peak!
Hi All,
I've been working on an affordable CNC Plasma machine. It utilizes a seldom used center lead screw and stationary gantry style of design. I chose to do this because it allows you to you a single drive motor and less drive components than having a dual drive x-axis system. The center leadscrew will be protected from the cutting path both with distance and a steel cover. This is a 2' x 4' machine with a 4" travel z-axis. The top box does have replaceable steel slats as well. The rest of the plans are on there way and will be free!

$75 CNC Mini Mill Parts Machined
We have some of our Mini Mill parts machined. We will need some time to get the larger pieces of material in to produce the frame side pieces but we will push forward. Stay tuned.

New CNC Milling Machine Design
I have been working on a new design for a strong and affordable milling machine frame. It is also a very simple design as well that utilizes a standard right angle bracket from Enco. It consists of two steel plates that are 3/8" x 5" x 18". You then buy the affordable right angle brackets form Enco that are cast and machined and come with slots in them. If you buy the 4 1/2" wide brackets they cost about $7.00 when on sale. That is dirt cheap for a cast iron precision machined bracket. You must then locate and tap holes in your steel plates to accommodate the mounting of the bracket.

Build a CNC Mini Mill for less than $75.00
We will begin posting on the start of a great looking and working $75.00 CNC Mini Mill. That cost will be for the materials needed to build your mechnical machine. It does not include your electornics, stepper motors, or cutting spindle. Stay tuned as we begin posting and providing pictures to our followers.

EMC2 Software
EMC2 CNC control software is the best. It is free and runs on a fast platform, Linux Ubuntu 8.04. EMC2 can now tested by using a live CD which you can boot to and test out both the operating system and the CNC software. I really like this software because it is free and powerful. It is comparable to the HAAS CNC controller and also takes similar programs as well. It requires a very short learning curve to get up to speed on the CNC capabilities. We have yet to explore the other capabilities of the control software. If you need the EMC2 live CD contact us, we have them available.
